Our team fosters a holistic approach by integrating all medical and performance departments to minimize injury and illness, ensure accurate and timely evaluations, and provide long-term strategies for player and staff education.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Boston Red Sox are seeking experienced Affiliate Athletic Trainers (ATC) to support their minor league teams. This role provides comprehensive medical care and performance assistance for the affiliated team, ensuring the health, safety, and performance optimization of the players. The Affiliate ATCs will work closely with the Athletic Training Coordinator, Strength & Conditioning staff, and Player Development staff to ensure that medical and performance protocols are implemented effectively. These positions are an essential component of player development, injury management and the overall health of players in the Boston Red Sox minor league system.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Medical Care & Team Coverage:
- Provide daily medical care, injury evaluation, treatment, and coverage for all players on the Greenville team, ensuring the highest standards of medical care.
- Coordinate with team physicians, Strength & Conditioning staff, and other medical personnel to create and execute individualized player care plans.
- Collaboration with Strength & Conditioning (S&C):
- Partner with the affiliate S&C staff to create, implement, and monitor performance plans, ensuring player health and performance goals are aligned.
- Mentorship & Leadership:
- Provide oversight and mentorship to the Seasonal Affiliate ATC, helping to ensure consistency in medical care and fostering professional development.
- Player Development & Maintenance:
- Aid in player development by establishing and maintaining the Boston Red Sox organizational medical services, focusing on routine maintenance and injury prevention strategies.
- Build consistent medical routines and educate players on injury prevention and recovery protocols.
- Injury Communication & Coordination:
- Communicate regularly with the Athletic Training Coordinator, Directors of Player Development, and Rehab Coordinator regarding player injury status, findings, treatment plans, and recovery timelines.
- Collaborate on the development and adjustment of rehabilitation plans as necessary.
- Logistical Coordination:
- Organize and coordinate in-season travel arrangements, including player movements, hotel accommodations, and bus schedules, ensuring smooth logistical operations.
- Coaching Staff Communication:
- Maintain daily communication with affiliate coaching staff to provide updates on player health status and availability.
- Injury Reports & Player Monitoring:
- Produce daily injury reports and conduct monthly monitoring screens to track player health and provide current medical information to relevant departments.
- Sports Science & Data Collaboration:
- Assist the sports science team with data collection and player wellness initiatives, contributing to the organization’s overall performance optimization strategy.
- Off-Season Coverage:
- Provide off-season medical coverage as needed, including potential assignments in Fort Myers or at various domestic and international events.
- Education:

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) in good standing with the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA).
- Experience in athletic training, preferably within professional or collegiate sports.
- Strong knowledge of sports medicine, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance optimization strategies.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and the ability to work seamlessly with colleagues across different departments and organizational levels.
- Ability to manage logistical planning, including travel arrangements for the team.
- Passion for player development and fostering a culture of wellness and injury prevention.
- Willingness to relocate to Fort Myers, FL and provide off season coverage.
