PBATS Rolex Raffle Raises Funds for Educational Scholarships
The Professional Baseball Athletic Trainer’s Society announced that Will Smith has won the 2015 Rolex Raffle and will be awarded a Rolex GMT Master II Black, provided by Robert C. Wesley of Rolex in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Smith becomes a member of the Rolex Raffle winner’s fraternity and joins the likes Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim outfielder Mike Trout, former White Sox all-star Paul Konerko and Mets outfielder Michael Cuddyer.
Along with Smith, the Cleveland Indians’ Carlos Carrasco was awarded second place and will receive a Diamond Tennis Bracelet. The Kansas City Royals’ Franklin Morales is this year’s third place winner and will receive a gourmet wine and cheese basket. Both Jared Hughes of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Tony Cingrani of the Cincinnati Reds were awarded iPad Minis as the 2015 fourth and fifth place winners.
The Rolex Raffle benefits the Jimmy Warfield and Bill Buhler PBATS’ Educational Scholarships. “The raffle is an awesome way to make people aware of the scholarships offered by PBATS. It gets the players involved, and it has always been highly successful as a fundraising opportunity. We always appreciate everyone who participates in the raffle and look forward to continued success and participation in the future,” said PBATS President Mark O’Neal.
PBATS continues to serve as an educational resource for the Major League and minor League Baseball athletic trainers, by providing members with educational information as it relates to the profession, while helping to improve the understanding of sports medicine so as to better promote the health of professional baseball players.
