Title: Minor League Physical Therapist
Description: The Baltimore Orioles are seeking an individual to serve as Minor League Physical Therapist. This position will require daily interaction with field staff, team physicians, Head Athletic Trainer, Minor League Medical Coordinator, Senior Organization Physical Therapist, as well as other staff and front office members in addition to the daily player care responsibilities. Responsibilities will include time spent in both team facilities; primarily at the team’s academy located in San Antonio de Guerra, DR as well as some time spent at the team complexes in Sarasota, Florida. The Minor League Physical Therapist will provide rehabilitative care to injured athletes throughout the organization. The individual would be asked to relocate to Sarasota, Florida and would be expected to continue appropriate player care throughout the calendar year.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that consistent rehab standards and philosophy are maintained for the Baltimore Orioles Sports Medicine & Performance Team (SM&P Staff) across the entire organization
- Collaborate with organization’s Certified Athletic Trainers, team physicians, strength and conditioning coaches, mental skills coaches, sport scientists, dieticians, front office, and player development staff to care for athletes and implement organizational programs
- Assist with injury prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of non-40-Man and DSL Players
- Communicate injury and rehab updates to the Head Athletic Trainer, Minor League Medical Coordinator, International Medical Coordinator, and Senior Organization Physical Therapist
- Help manage post-injury care for non-40-man roster players, including designing rehab programs, providing treatments, coordinating rehab assignments, and communicating with Certified Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists regarding athlete care
- Assist with continued development of Baltimore Orioles rehab philosophies and implementation across the organization
- Assist with continued development of Baltimore Orioles SM&P Staff Continuing Education Program for ATC’s, PT’s, and S&C
- Thorough documentation of all injuries/illnesses including daily notes, physician notes, and other required documentation and reporting. Needs to be familiar with MLB EMR system
- Occasional work out coverage including pre/post treatments and field set up
- Collaborate with Athletic Training, Strength and Conditioning, and Sport Science staff to create objective measure for rehab and utilize these measures in progressing athlete care
- Assist with player acquisition risk assessments in conjunction with the SM&P staff
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism in high stress situations

- Daily training room cleaning duties
- Hydrotherapy Room Maintenance
- Frequent travel will include the following but not limited to:
- DR Academy for DSL long term rehabs
- Affiliate locations when necessary
Qualifications:
Required:
- Licensed Physical Therapist (PT)
- Willing to relocate to Sarasota, FL and potentially spend extended periods of time at the DR Academy
Desired:
- Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)
- Bilingual (English & Spanish)
- Experience in Professional Sports
- MLB Internship Experience
- Experience in the Collegiate Sports Medicine Setting
Location and Hours:
- Will split time between team complexes in Sarasota, FL and the Dominican Republic
Travel:
- Travel is to be expected frequent in this role.
