This role is to serve as Assistant Minor League Medical Coordinator. Individual must have performance and strength & conditioning vision to join robust Sports Medicine & Performance Team. This position will require daily interaction with field staff, strength & conditioning coaches, team physicians, strength and conditioning coordinator, head athletic trainer as well as other staff and front office members in addition to daily player care responsibilities. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, Spring Training in Jupiter, FL as well as providing care to injured athletes throughout the minor & major league season.

Essential Function & Responsibilities: 

  • In conjunction with MiLB ATC Coordinator; oversee and continue to develop MiLB medical staff and medical procedures
  • Collaborate with player development coaches and front office
  • In collaboration with Rehab Coordinator, assist long term rehab players at Jupiter Complex in their return to play and rehab process.
  • Stay up to date on modern techniques, technology and therapies in medical care, nutrition and strength & conditioning.
  • Evaluate and evolve rehab, player care and medical administrative processes within the MiLB system
  • Cohesively with MiLB ATC Coordinator, Rehab Coordinator, S&C Coordinator, facilitate/advise when injuries occur at affiliates
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with front office
  • Assist strength, sports science programs as well as evaluation of staff development & player care
  • Ensure high standard of medical care is being taken place at each affiliate, Jupiter complexand DR Academy
  • Assist with hiring/interviewing potential new staff.
  • Off-season contingent on schedule, rotation basis coverage needed in off-season in collaboration with Jupiter and Miami medical staff.
  • Assist with continued development of Miami Marlins PT, SC, Dietetic and ATC apprentice/internship program.
  • Performance driven mindset with strength & conditioning background and vision is imperative
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism in high stress situations.

Education, Experience & Skills Required:

  • Master’s degree – Minimum 3-5 Years working as Certified ATC
  • Certified Athletic Trainer, ATC/PT dual credentialed individuals encouraged to apply
  • Preferred: Bilingual Spanish/English; CPR Certified; Strength and Conditioning background

Work Environment

The position will work in an athletic training room, weight room, baseball complex, office, and stadium environment. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium and weight room environments. Work is medium in demand. Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects. Medium strength is required to position patients for examination. May assist patients as needed, helping them on and off the exam table. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Travel is expected occasionally in this role.
