Description:

The A’s are currently seeking a Minor League Certified Athletic Trainer who will be assigned to one of the minor league affiliate teams. This position will work under the direct supervision of the Minor League Medical Coordinator in the management of player healthcare, including but not limited to on-field coverage, prevention, maintenance, evaluation and treatment programs. Candidates should possess a strong work ethic and passion to perform at a high standard, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and showing the willingness to work within a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily medical care including but not limited to, prevention, injury evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation techniques at the highest standards.
  • Provide on-call medical assistance for on-field and off-field injuries and illnesses.
  • Implement pre-game and pre-practice player preparation designed for injury prevention.
  • Maintain recordkeeping using the electronic medical records system (AHMS), in accordance with best practices and minimum standards.
  • Implement medical and training room administrative services such as scheduling doctor’s appointments, ordering supplies and documenting injuries.
  • Operate under a Team Approach in collaborating with the Performance Staff on the maintenance programs and return to play progressions for all players.
  • Assist the Team Physicians in providing medical supervision to Minor League club personnel.
  • Daily communication of player health status with the Medical Coordinator, Performance staff, and Field Staff.
  • Other similar duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
  • Adhering to and monitoring of Health & Safety Protocols per MLB and the Club.

Requirements:

  • NATABOC certified and in good standing.
  • Eligible to meet state Licensure requirements.
  • CPR/AED certification.
  • Strong communication and computer skills.
  • Flexibility to work extensive hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the minor league baseball season.
  • Ability to attend Spring Training and Instructional League in Mesa, AZ facilities.
  • Ability to work at one of the Athletics’ minor league teams for the minor league season in Mesa, AZ.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience working with players from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Prior experience in professional baseball is encouraged.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and actively participate in on-field practices and games for extended periods of time.
  • Adequate mobility and physical stamina to engage in field activities and accompany players during practices and games.
