JOB TITLE: Latin American Medical Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Medical / Player Development

JOB STATUS: Full-Time

LOCATION: Clearwater, FL with frequent travel to Santo Domingo, DR

JOB SUMMARY: The Philadelphia Phillies are seeking an experienced Athletic Trainer to be our Latin American Medical Coordinator. The coordinator will supervise clinical services to Latin American minor league players and field staff at the Dominican Republic Academy while collaborating interdepartmentally to optimize player injury prevention and enhance player performance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary duties to include, but not limited to the following:

  • Oversee Latin American medical operations under the direction of the Minor League Medical Coordinator while educating and developing athletic trainers and physical therapists assigned to the Dominican Republic Academy.
  • Implement organizational programs with focus on optimizing player health and performance in collaboration with player development staff.
  • Develop medical networks within the Dominican Republic with integration to Phillies medical director, team physicians, and head athletic trainer.
  • Collaborate with international scouting and Draft Coordinator on assessment and risk analysis of potential signees and provide acclimation programs for new signees.
  • Assist in rehabilitation at the Dominican Republic Academy and Player Development Complex in collaboration with the Rehab Coordinator.
  • Assist with Player Development Complex operations including Spring Training performance camps, and other off-season responsibilities.
  • Oversee Latin American medical budget, inventory, and supply acquisition.
  • Relocation to Clearwater, FL is preferred as 60% will be spent at the Player Development Complex and 40% at the Dominican Republic Academy.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • National Athletic Trainer’s Association – Board of Certification in good standing.
  • Eligible and in good standing for Florida State Licensure.
  • CPR / AED Certified
  • 5+ years of Professional Baseball Experience
  • Spanish Proficiency

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous managerial experience
  • M.S. or other advanced degree/study
