PBATS Expands Executive Board at 2025 MLB Winter Meetings

The Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) is proud to announce the addition of Brad Pearson of the Boston Red Sox and PJ Mainville of the Chicago Cubs as At-Large Representatives to the PBATS Executive Board.

Pearson and Mainville join an accomplished leadership team dedicated to advancing the role of athletic trainers in professional baseball. The updated PBATS Executive Board now includes:

  • Nick Kenney  (Royals)– President
  • Ron Porterfield (Dodgers) – Past President
  • Ryan DiPanfilo (D’Backs) – Secretary
  • Lonnie Soloff  (Guardians) – Treasurer
  • Kyle Turner (Royals) – AL Head Representative
  • Mark Shires (Orioles) – AL Assistant Representative
  • Paul Buchheit (Phillies) – NL Head Representative
  • Tomas Vera (Reds) – NL Assistant Representative
  • Brad Pearson (Red Sox) – AL At-Large Representative
  • PJ Mainville (Cubs) – NL At-Large Representative

PBATS President Nick Kenney expressed his enthusiasm for the new additions, stating:

Brad Pearson, Head Athletic Trainer for the Boston Red Sox, and PJ Mainville, Head Athletic Trainer for the Chicago Cubs, bring decades of combined experience in sports medicine, player rehabilitation, and leadership. Additionally, being voted in by their peers reflects PBATS’ dedication to ensuring that athletic trainers at all levels of professional baseball are well-represented and supported.

The PBATS Executive Board works collaboratively to oversee the organization’s educational programs, professional development initiatives, and community outreach efforts. The addition of Pearson and Mainville further strengthens the board’s ability to serve the needs of athletic trainers and support player health and safety.
