Dr. Clarence Livingood Scholarship Winners Announced

The Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) is proud to announce the recipients of the 2024 Dr. Clarence Livingood Scholarship for athletic training students: Ximena Iniguez (Northern Arizona University), Yoshiki Iwaya (Indiana State University), Sho Katayama (Ohio University), and Trevor Maag (University of Arkansas). These four exceptional students have demonstrated academic excellence and a strong passion for athletic training.

PBATS President Nick Kenney expressed his pride in PBATS’ continued commitment to supporting the next generation of athletic trainers. “Investing in the education and development of future leaders in athletic training is essential to our mission. These scholarships are a testament to our dedication to fostering growth in this field. PBATS, at our core, is an educational society and while the application process is extremely competitive, we’re excited to offer these four scholarships to the well-deserving winners.”

Kenney also extended a special thank you to Paul Lessard from the Washington Nationals for his invaluable work in overseeing the scholarship program. “Paul’s dedication to this program has made it possible to continually support and inspire young professionals on their path to success.”

The Dr. Clarence Livingood Scholarship is an ongoing effort by PBATS to recognize and nurture talented students pursuing careers in athletic training, helping them achieve their educational and professional goals. The scholarship, named after a pioneer within professional baseball, is awarded annually to students who exhibit academic excellence, leadership, and a passion for the field. The scholarship aims to lessen the financial burden for students as they pursue their education, ensuring that the brightest minds have the resources to thrive in their athletic training careers.
