President Ron Porterfield of the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) has officially announced the winners of the PBATS Major League Baseball Athletic Training Staff of the Year, among other awards for the 2021 Major and Minor League Baseball season.

NATA Hall of Fame Recognition: Mark Letendre, PBATS Alumni
Minor League Athletic Trainer of the Year: Mickey Clarizio, Colorado Rockies
President’s Distinguished Service Award: Jon Coyles, Major League Baseball
MLB Athletic Training Staff of the Year: Atlanta Braves (George Poulis, Mike Frostad, Jeff Stevenson, Jeff Porter)

- Arizona Complex League Athletic Trainer of the Year: Mickey Clarizio, Colorado Rockies
- Florida Complex League Athletic Trainer of the Year: Asja Morello, Minnesota Twins
- Dominican Summer League Athletic Trainer of the Year: Derrik J. Navarro, Cleveland Indians (Guardians)
About the awards, Porterfield said, “I’m happy to announce PBATS’ 2021 awards. Although we would have loved to present these awards in person, we are thrilled to recognize each winner virtually. From the service awards to the Minor League and Major League awards, we are so glad to be able to honor an incredible group of past and present athletic trainers.”
Porterfield added, “To win an award voted on by your peers is a true honor for any athletic trainer in the game of baseball. These talented individuals are the leaders in baseball athletic training and they should be extremely proud of their accomplishments and the future to come for many.”
