Job Title: Seasonal Athletic Trainer

Reports To: AAA Athletic Trainer

FLSA: Seasonal Salary, Exempt. Non-Benefitted

Location: Louisville, KY

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist AAA Athletic Trainer with daily training room, on field set-up and maintenance duties such as:
    • Maintenance and operation of athletic training room.
    • Planning and executing the daily evaluations.
    • Treatments of injuries/illnesses.
    • Plan and execute the rehabilitation and functional progressions of athletes as discussed with AAA Athletic Trainer, Director of Athletic Training, and Director of Physical Therapy.
    • Provide medical field coverage of games and practices as schedule dictates.
    • Ensure proper field set-up and preparation to ensure a safe playing environment for the health and well-being of players and staff.
    • Communicate effectively to relay pertinent information in a timely manner to the Director of Athletic Training and team physicians when appropriate.
  • Scheduling and execution of athlete monitoring assessments and data collection for Health & Performance, Sports Science and other baseball initiatives
  • Performance of administrative duties for club including player travel, housing, per diem, HR, MLB and baseball operations paperwork, and other team expenses
  • Assistance with physician appointment transportation, training room and travel preparation
Experience, Education and Licensure: 
  • College graduate and NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer required.
  • Maintain applicable state licensures and certifications, in good standing, to practice as a Certified Athletic Trainer in location assigned by the club.
  • CPR/AED certification.
  • Previous baseball experience not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Independent judgment and ability to multitask is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work long, flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be trustworthy and comfortable with managing large quantities of money and sensitive information.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with wide range of departments, seniority levels and personalities.
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Work Environment:
  • HIPAA compliance and discretion are required
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment however employee may have “game day” responsibilities where the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • Hours include nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Adhere to Cincinnati Reds Organization Policies and Procedures.
  • Act as a role model within and outside the Cincinnati Reds Organization.
  • Performs duties as workload necessitates.
  • Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Meet Department productivity standards.
