The Mission Statement

PBATS believes that mental health is integral to living a healthy, balanced life. According to research, one in five Americans experience mental health issues, which translates to more than 40 million per year. Our mental health encompasses our psychological, emotional and social well-being. This means it impacts how we feel, think and behave each day. Our mental health also contributes to our decision-making process, how we cope with stress and how we relate to others in our lives.

As athletic trainers, we know that the stress put on players and athletic training staff during a 162-game MLB season can be mentally and emotionally taxing. Just like physical fitness can help a player (or worker) do their best, mentally healthy individuals find much more stability and enjoyment in their everyday lives and this is what we want for all of the players in our care and all Americans. From physical activity to proper nutrition to proper stress relief, we work hard to help our players, and fans across the world, feel the joy they should when playing the game they love.

As all of us struggle with isolation and mental health & wellness during the COVID-19 global pandemic, PBATS strives to educate the American people about the overall importance of proper care for mental health.
