Vice President of Player Development/Scouting, Director of Player Development, Major League Athletic Training Staff

Supervises:

Minor League Athletic Trainers, Minor League Players and Staff

Position Summary:

Athletic Trainer responsible for overseeing all medical aspects of the minor leagues

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in hiring minor league affiliate athletic trainers
  • Supervise minor league affiliate athletic trainers – includes periodic travel to each affiliate
  • Coordinate minor league physician coverage for affiliates and Jupiter complex
  • Coordinate all minor league entrance and exit physicals – Spring training and throughout the season
  • Coordinate surgeries and special test needed for injured players
  • Assist in creating and implementing rehabilitation and return to sport activity programs
  • Injury / rehabilitation documentation and tracking
  • Communicate with doctors, athletic trainers, players and front office regarding rehab / status updates
  • Work closely with risk management staff regarding open and closed work comp claims
  • Provide risk assessment for potential trades, free agents and amateur draft
  • Serve as the drug testing coordinator / liaison for the minor leagues
  • Serve as the organizations TUE coordinator, working with MLB and team EAP

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Based out of Jupiter, FL
  • NATA Certification
  • Florida State Athletic Training Certification
  • CPR and AED certified

Suggested Education & Experience Guidelines:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Previous baseball experience preferred
  • Bilingual a plus
