General Purpose

Evaluation and treatment of Dominican Minor League players injuries on a daily basis. This requires location in the Dominican Republic.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnosis and triage all injuries and illness at the minor league affiliate.
  • Develop specific treatment plans for injured minor league players including prognosis and potential return to play.
  • Communicate with the Minor League Coordinator and DR Coordinator regarding treatment plans and coverage of home games.
  • Communicate with DR Coordinator on daily playing status of all players.
  • Participate in developing rehab program for all injured players that stay at the affiliate.
  • Arrange and assure all medical appointments are made and evaluated by local medical consultants for injured Players
  • Arrange and set appointments with local physicians.
  • Prepare and complete necessary paperwork required by MiLB on injured and IL players
  • Document and maintain patient records through the EMR System including daily injury report for the Minor and Major League Staff.
  • Oversee Worker’s Comp claims and paperwork for MiLB players and staff.
  • Assist in the organization and management Minor Spring Training
  • Administrate and manage ordering of equipment and supplies for the affiliate while staying within a prescribed budget in conjunction with DR Coordinator.
  • Work with Strength Coach on injury prevention and communication with the S&C on any restriction to lifting or conditioning due to injury.
  • Expected to be at the Dominican Republic Marlins Player Development Complex for programs including but not limited to: Winter Development Camp, DSL Spring Training, DSL Season and Fall Instructional/Strength Programs.
  • Assist the International Scouting Department with coverage of weekly workouts at the complex.

  • Knowledge of Baseball Injuries
  • Ability to do high level physical exams of injured players
  • Communication and people skills especially to the DR Coordinator

Education & Formal Training

  • Athletic Training Certified by the BOC/Florida License and/or Physical Therapy Degree and Certified by the FSBPT/Florida License
  • Expertise in Baseball Sports Medicine
  • Continuing Education courses that demonstrate level of post graduate education.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and consistently with Front Office, Physicians and staff
  • Passport ability to travel to the Dominican Republic
