Job Title: Affiliate Intern – Integrative Sports Performance

Department: Medical Operations

Reports To: Sara Goodrum, Coordinator – Integrative Sports Performance

Summary:

The Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club (MBBC) are seeking to fill five (5) seasonal, part-time positions from February 24, 2019 – End of the Minor League Championship Season (approx. 1st Week of September). This position will report to the Coordinator – Integrative Sports Performance and assist with data collections, data processing, and a variety of other duties and responsibilities as it pertains to the Medical Staff at each affiliate. All Interns will be trained during Spring Training in Arizona and will then break camp with, their designated affiliate. The Intern will be with their respective affiliate team for all home and road games. Interns will be assigned to an affiliate before Spring Training begins.

LOCATIONS

  • Spring Training: Phoenix, AZ (5)
  • In-Season: AAA (1) o Biloxi, MS (1) o Zebulon, NC (1) o Appleton, WI (1) o Phoenix, AZ (1)

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Working toward BS/BA in Exercise Science or related field; Completed degree preferred,
    but not required.
  • Experience as it pertains to human performance, strength & conditioning, athletic training,
    nutrition, and/or physical therapy.
  • Experience in implementation of scientific research methodology/protocols. o Computer Skills: Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to complete Internship through the required time frame.

Preferred:

  • ATC, CSCS, or related credential(s).
  • Previous experience working in baseball.
  • Experience utilizing advanced technologies.

RESPONSIBLITIES

Spring Training:

  • Learn primary protocols / techniques for all MBBC Integrative Sports Performance related
    programs.
  • Learn how to operate all technology required for the MBBC Integrative Sports Performance related programs.
  • Responsible for daily organization and implementation of Integrative Sports Performance data collections.
    • Hitting Program.
    • Pitching Program.
    • Recovery Program
  • Assist with data collection for various Medical Programs.
  • Assist with data processing/entry.
  • Assist Medical Staff with travel related tasks for Spring Training Camp to Minor League Affiliate as necessary.

In-Season:

  • Responsible for daily organization and implementation of Integrative Sports Performance data collections.
    • Hitting Program.
    • Pitching Program.
    • Recovery Program.
  • Assist with data collection for various Medical Programs
  • Assist Athletic Trainers with rehabilitation programs as needed. o Assist Medical Staff with In-Season travel related tasks.
  • Assist with data processing/entry.
  • Assist Medical Staff with necessary preparations.

WORK HOURS

  • This position requires approximately 50-70 hours per week during Spring Training and the Championship season.

COMPENSATION:

  • Stipend rate is commensurate with education and experience.
    • Range: $7.25 – $11.00 per hour

Spring Training:

  • Flight: Flight will be provided from home to Phoenix, AZ.
  • Housing: Interns will be provided a room at the team hotel. Interns may be required to double in a room.
  • Meals: Breakfast and Lunch will be provided at the complex. Per diem will be provided for Dinner.
  • Transportation: Transportation will be provided to/ from the team hotel by Medical Staff.

In-Season:

  • Housing: Interns will be responsible for their own housing in their respective affiliate city. The club may assist in finding appropriate housing.
  • Meals: Meals will be provided at the ballpark (home/road) pre-and post-game. Per diem will be provided for any/all meals on the road that are not provided at the ball park. Intern is responsible for non-covered meals at home.
  • Transportation: Interns will be responsible for their own transportation at their respective affiliate city.
  • Flight: Flight will be provided from affiliate city to home.
