 We are looking for a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) to be a part of our team to demonstrate passion and conviction in our approach to providing a seamless, systematic, and scientifically based program for identification, care, and treatment of all medical issues for Cleveland Guardians players and staff. This person will serve as an assistant ATC in the minor league system of the Cleveland Guardians and will have responsibilities in Goodyear, AZ, Dominican Republic, in addition support the needs of our minor league affiliates (Columbus, Akron, Lake County, and Lynchburg). The athletic trainer Assistant will work alongside both the Cleveland Guardians’ medical staff during spring training and with affiliate athletic trainers to support the medical and administrative needs of the affiliate organization.  This position will begin on or around January 1st through October 31st

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation techniques for various injuries.
  • Partner with the Head Athletic Trainer to manage affiliate medical budgets, inventory, and treatment plans.
  • Accompany and provide transport (as needed) for players to medical appointments.
  • Assist Head Athletic Trainer with record keeping using the electronic medical records system.
  • Assisting with daily maintenance program planning and implementation for all players.
  • Perform various administrative duties as assigned/as needed.
  • Assist with field/game medical coverage during spring training and affiliate season.

Education & Experience Requirements and Preference

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s or master’s degree of Athletic Training or related field preferred.
  • BOC certified and in good standing.
  • CPR/AED certification required.
  • Must be able to obtain Athletic Training licensure in Ohio and Arizona.
  • Must be licensed as an Athletic Trainer by state board of residence.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with members across various domains.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and electronic medical record-keeping software.

 Role Requirements

  • Fulfill duties as requested by the VP of Medical Services, Assistant Director of Medical Services, Minor League Medical Coordinators, or Directors of Player Development.
  • Affiliate travel during the season, inclusive of overnight stays (7 Day Road Trips)
  • Work responsibilities at the Academy in Goodyear, AZ, as well as minor league affiliates.
  • Relocation during the contract period.
  • Must have a valid US driver’s license.

  • Ability to work in a diverse and changing environment. Occasional physical activity such as lifting and carrying boxes up to 25 lbs.
