- A Northeastern University graduate, Paul Lessard, 47, was hired in December ’09 to be the Head Athletic Trainer for the Cincinnati Reds. He held the same position with the Red Sox (2005-09) as well as the Diamondbacks (1997-2005). He has an extensive background in collegiate sports, as well as professional sports. He was Head Athletic Trainer at Holy Cross (1994-97),and Senior Athletic Trainer at Boston University (1988-94). Paul also served as a summer assistant athletic trainer for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons in 1985 and 1986, followed by 2 seasons with the New York Yankees (A) affiliate in Fort Lauderdale, Fla in 1987 & 1988. A native of Stamford, Conn., Lessard received an undergraduate degree in athletic training from Northeastern University and master’s degree from Boston University. He is a member of NATA, the EATA, the OATA, and ATOM. Lessard’s hobbies include playing golf and racquetball. Paul and his wife, Lisa have 3 daughters, Anne, Grace, and Nicole.

- Steve Baumann, 30, enters his 4th season as an assistant athletic trainer for the Cincinnati Reds. He spent the previous 5 years as a Reds minor league athletic trainer. Baumann joined the Reds organization in 2000 as the athletic trainer at Rookie Level Billings. After 3 seasons in Billings, Steve was promoted to AA Chattanooga for the 2003 season and moved on to AAA Louisville for the 2004 season. Following the 2004 season, Steve was an athletic trainer for the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League. While pursuing his degree in Health Promotion and Education from the University of Cincinnati, Steve was an intern for the Reds during the 1999 season. The Cincinnati native enjoys working out. Steve and his wife Rachel reside in Cincinnati year-round.
