- San Diego native, Stephen Sayles 48, received his first taste of professional baseball as an outfielder with the San Diego Padres’ Class A Miami Marlins in 1983. When a shoulder injury halted his playing career, he earned a degree in athletic training from San Diego State in 1984 in hopes of returning to the game of baseball as a health care professional. He rejoined the Padres as an athletic trainer for their Class A-short season club in Spokane, Wash., from 1985 to 1986 and worked his way up through the Padres’ farm system with affiliates in Charleston, S.C., (Class A) from 1987 to 1989; Wichita, Kan. (Class AA) from 1990 to 1992; and Las Vegas (Class AAA) from 1993 to 1997. Sayles entered the Major League ranks as the A’s assistant athletic trainer in 1998. Named Head Athletic Trainer for the 2008 season. A member of the NATA and the Nevada State Athletic Trainers Association Sayles enjoys reading, fishing, and weight training. He and his wife, Jessica, live in Las Vegas.

- Larry Davis has served as an athletic trainer with the Oakland Athletics organization for the past 34 years. Before Davis's promotion to the Major League level, he spent 11 years in Oakland's Minor League system, making stops in Tucson, Ariz., San Jose, Calif., Vancouver, Ogden, Utah, and Tacoma, Wash. He was promoted to assistant athletic trainer with the parent club in 1984 and was named head athletic trainer in December 1997. In 1990, Davis lectured on myotherapy at the PBATS Minor League spring training seminar in Mesa, Ariz., and in 1996 served as the athletic trainer for the MLB All-Star Game in Philadelphia. He enjoys reading, hiking, crossword puzzles, and mountain biking.
- Walt Horn

- Position: Assistant Athletic Trainer
- College Attended: Boise State University

- Walt Horn, 52 , begins his first year as Assistant Athletic Trainer
for the Athletics after 30 years in the minor leagues. He spent 6
seasons in AA and the last 24 in AAA all in The Pacific Coast
League. He has been selected PCL Athletic Trainer of The Year
in 1992,1996, 2002 and 2004, with two AllStar selections in 1993
and 2005.Other stops include 2 winters in Puerto Rico(Ponce,
PR) and 1 in The Dominican Republic(Licey). He is a certified
member of the NATA and Arizona Athletic Trainers Association
and licensed in Arizona. Walt enjoys spending time with his wife
of 15 years, Stacy, and their 2 children, Kassandra and Cameron.
Hobbies include all outdoor activities, particularly riding his Harley
and golf.
