JOB DESCRIPTION: The Detroit Tigers are looking for a Full-Time Certified Athletic Trainer for their Rookie Level – Gulf Coast League Affiliate. The applicant would report in Mid-May and would assist in the care during Minor League Extended Spring Training Programs and oversee the Gulf Coast League Affiliate in Lakeland, FL.

The position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in pre-participation examinations/measurements, practice/game coverage, use of the Major League Baseball EMR, and the 6 domains of athletic training (injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning, organization and administration, and professional responsibility). The applicant must also be able to communicate effectively with the Medical Coordinator, Strength and Conditioning Staff, Field Staff, and Front Office.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from an CAATE Program (Or comparable equivalent based on date of graduation)

  • Current NATA BOC Certification Required (In Good Standing At Time of Hire)
  • Bilingual (Spanish) required
  • Previous Baseball Experience preferred, but not required
