JOB DESCRIPTION: The Detroit Tigers are looking for an athletic training student intern for the Gulf Coast League Affiliate Season and the Fall Instructional League Program. The applicant would report in Mid-June to prepare for the Gulf Coast League Season and Fall Instructional League program in Lakeland, FL.

The position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in pre-participation examinations/measurements, practice/game coverage, use of the Major League Baseball EMR, and the 6 domains of athletic training (injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning, organization and administration, and professional responsibility). The applicant must also be able to communicate effectively with the Medical Coordinator, Strength and Conditioning Staff, Field Staff, and Front Office. Relocation to Lakeland, FL for the duration of the internship is required and housing options are provided at on site dormitory. Payment will be based on the 2017 Florida hourly wage scale.


QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least a Junior, in good standings, with an CAATE Program

  • Graduate School Athletic Training Students are also acceptable for this position
  • If Certified under the Board of Certification, Florida State Licensure must be obtained
  • Previous Baseball Experience preferred, but not required
