JOB DESCRIPTION: The Detroit Tigers are looking for an intern certified athletic trainer for the Dominican Summer League Affiliate Season and portions of the Minor League Spring Training program. The applicant would report in March to Lakeland, FL to prepare for the Dominican Summer League Season in San Pedro De Macoris, DR.
The position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in pre-participation examinations/measurements, practice/game coverage, use of the Major League Baseball EMR, and the 6 domains of athletic training (injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning, organization and administration, and professional responsibility). The applicant must also be able to communicate effectively with the Medical Coordinator, the International Medical Coordinator, Strength and Conditioning Staff, Field Staff, and Front Office. Relocation to Lakeland, FL for the beginning of the internship is required and housing options are provided at on site dormitory. Following Spring Training, the applicant will relocate to San Pedro De Marcoris from Mid-April through August, where housing is also made available.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from an CAATE Program

- Current NATA BOC Certification Required (In Good Standing At Time of Hire)
- Must be eligible and obtain Licensure in the State of Florida
- Bilingual (Spanish) is required
- Previous Baseball Experience preferred, but not required
- Wages based off 2017 Florida Pay Scale
- Non-Benefit Position
