Mark O’Neal, PBATS President and Chicago Cubs Director of Medical Administration joined Nick Frangella, Chicago Cubs Head Minor League Athletic Trainer, to present Shane Nelson of the Southern League (AA) and Toby Williams of the Arizona Summer League with their MiLB athletic trainer of the year awards for their respective leagues.

“I’m very proud of our athletic training staff and specifically Shane and Toby,” said O’Neal. “These guys work so hard and are an integral part of the success of the Cubs organization. All of us at the Major League level truly appreciate their work and look forward to watching them grow as athletic trainers with the Cubs.”

These awards are given annually to one member of each of the 16 leagues in Minor League Baseball, as well as one award for the Dominican Summer League. An additional award is given to the Minor League Coordinator of the Year.
